Standard
mass automated generation
As a support tool to the mass
management and CG calculation, BoatExpress has a function that makes an
automated repartition of the boat mass(displacement). This is
accomplished through a dimensionless model based on the model
developped by H M Barkla at
St-Andrews University, Scotland.
The
displacement will be parted
in large classes of components.
The classes of components used by BoatExpress is one commonly
used by naval architect.
The classes are listed below:
The
automated mass repartition is done through the selection:
>>Mass and Center of
gravity>>Generate Standard Masses and Center of gravity
on
the Sand Box
canvas.

On the Full Breath plan, small
cylinders represent
the longitudinal and
lateral position of each class
CG. The vertical position of the class CG is illustrated on the Profile
plan.
Under the selection >>
Mode>>Identify Standard Masse clicking on the
handle of a cylinder will display the name of the class. On the
example, we see the 'head' class CG.
On top of the screen we see the 'rigging' CG vertical position.
The detailled
data
for each group is
viewed using >>Files>>Inspect
Here we see all data under class 'galley'.
We know the exact position of the centroïd and the class's
mass.
